For four years now, Ben Capozzi has been building a backyard orchard and in-town homestead with his wife, Elyse, the love of his life, and their dogs Matilda and Lillian.
In 2016, Ben became a farmers market manager in Caswell County, NC. He visited Stefan Sobkowiak’s permaculture orchard in 2015, earned his permaculture design certificate from Geoff Lawton in 2014, and became a Virginia Master Gardener in 2013.
Ben used to teach computer graphics and design, but since a heart disease diagnosis in 2011, he learns from nature, grafts and sells heirloom fruit trees, and grows vegetables for his family.
In 2017, his farm business Elmwood Farm Tree Crops aims to grow more clean food with integrity for more people in his community of Halifax, Virginia.
